How we test & review
Swipey-Review is an independent, reader-supported site. We test AI companion apps hands-on, score them honestly, and tell you the catches — including billing.
Our methodology
For each app we create a real account, swipe and match, hold extended text conversations, place voice (and where available video) calls, test image generation, and run through the full upgrade and billing flow. We score across five weighted areas:

Content standards
- 18+ only. Every page is age-gated.
- Suggestive, never explicit. We keep copy flirty but clean.
- Synthetic only. No real-person likeness, deepfakes, or minors — anywhere.
👋 Who we are
A small editorial team that reviews AI companion products. We also run a sister site, GoLove, with a different romance-first focus.
Lead reviewer: Alex Mercer — has hands-on tested 15+ AI companion apps since 2024, logging 200+ hours of swiping, chatting and voice/video calls. For the Swipey review specifically: two weeks of daily use, a real paid Premium account, and the full upgrade→token→cancel billing flow tested end to end. Alex writes under a pen name (standard for the adult-app niche) but every test is real and repeatable.
